When the weather turns midday or you’re starting in the dark, you need a go-to layer to keep the chill out without overheating.

We made this intentionally simple. At less than 2 oz (size M), it pulls far above its weight, with premium Pertex Quantum Air fabric that breathes during a sweaty pursuit without compromising wind resistance. Its textured yarn remains soft on the skin while also layerering nicely in harsh conditions, and its DWR finish sheds light rain or snow. Elasticized hood and cuffs and a simple cinch closure on the bottom hem keep it snug when you’re working hard.

This ultralight, versatile windshell is designed for high-output days when breathability is just as crucial as wind resistance. Stuff it in a pocket as an emergency shell, wear it all day on a windy ridgeline scramble, or throw it on before a quick descent - our Crest Windshell goes anywhere you do.

Excellent Coverage in Yellowstone Rainstorm

My Crest windshell served me very well in a cold and windy spell in Yellowstone NP. The shell added a nice layer of warmth during some intense hiking in the storm and certainly kept the wind at bay. Even the moisture that eventually found its way through the shell evaporated quickly and made for very comfortable hiking. The shell dried very quickly just hung on a quick clothesline and overall I am very impressed with the preformance of the product.

Love it!

Fits in a pants pocket. Great when you need just a little something to block the wind, hold the heat in. Cuffs and hood edge are comfortable. My only complaint is the fabric brand tag on the side seam. Excess weight.

So Light and Wind Stopping . . but

I actually love this piece of gear - it is extremely light and packs down to nothing. It is very functional with a good zipper and wind blocking hood. I have not yet completely figured out how to make the best use of it so far. I got it to go over an insulation layer like my polartec alpha direct hoodie or my under armor cold gear compression long sleeve but so far whenever I wear one of those under this windshell I sweat like a pig and it feels hypothermic - a condition I don't want to have happen. So it doesn't breathe quite well enough it that configuration.

GREAT light weight peace of gear. Two important functions need to be added

This is a great piece of gear. Please add,
1) a chest pocked with horizontal zipper
2) an adjustable stretch cord in the hood

Still trying to find its niche

Very light and packable but worthless points if you cannot find a role for it.
It probably prevents evaporative heat loss but have not noted any effect on convective heat loss. I do not notice any warmth benefit putting it on.
Still trying it in different situations which will increase as we reach fall.
The one report of using it as a vapor barrier in winter hiking was intriguing. I might give it a try.
